What you’d be doing
Combined Roofing Australia has been roofing since 2009 — more than 3,500 projects across heritage restoration, commercial metal and cladding, and prestige residential. Three divisions, offices in Sydney and Melbourne, and over 100 years of combined experience on the team.
Depending where you fit, that means slate and lead on heritage-listed buildings, zinc and standing seam on commercial jobs, or running the projects and the numbers behind them.

No two packages here are identical. What follows is what the job actually comes with.
Training
You learn from tradesmen who have restored St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney Town Hall and the Melbourne GPO. Slate, lead, copper and zinc are skills most Australian roofers never get near, and they do not go out of date.
Career progression
Every step on our ladder is a role someone on the team holds today — apprentice through to leading hand, site manager, project manager and division director. Two offices means the path is not blocked by one office being full.
The projects
Heritage-listed landmarks, Tier builders, government departments, church trusts and architects. Eight industry awards including MRCAA National overall winner and Craftsmanship of the Year.
Two states
Offices in Sydney and Melbourne, licensed in both — NSW 225888C and Victorian Building 129688. Work exists in both, and heritage work in Melbourne is growing.
Union coverage
Combined Roofing Australia is a member of the Plumbing & Pipe Trades Employees Union of Australia, alongside the Master Builders Association, HIA and the Metal Roofing & Cladding Association.
Pay and conditions
There is no one-size package here. Rates are based on experience, and for the right person tickets and training, a tool allowance, a vehicle and how your hours are structured are all on the table. Tell us what matters to you and we will have that conversation properly.
From overseas
Coming to Australia
Some of the best slate and lead work in the world is done in Britain and Ireland, and those are exactly the skills that are scarce here. If you trained in heritage roofing overseas, we want to hear from you — we are an approved sponsor, and we also take people on working holiday visas.

Eligible passport holders apply for this visa themselves — it is not employer-sponsored, so you do not need a job offer from us before you apply. Eligibility and current conditions are on the Department of Home Affairs website.

Visa condition 8547 limits Working Holiday visa holders to a maximum of six months’ work with any one employer. Permission to work longer can be requested from Home Affairs, and the request must be made before the six months is up.
